Myelography is a common neuroimaging technique used in the diagnosis of spinal cord disorders in dogs and cats. Although myelography is generally be-lieved to be a safe diagnostic procedure, several com-plications can occur. Complications associated with myelography in animals include deterioration of the patient’s neurologic status, penetration of the cervical spinal cord or brainstem, injection of the contrast agent into the spinal cord, vomiting, apnea, asystole, focal or generalized seizures, and death.1–6
