The incidence of cervical spinal cord lesions in thedog ranges from 13.9 to 25.4%.1–3Clinical signsassociated with cervical intervertebral disc disease(IVDD) include severe neck pain, low head carriage,thoracic limb lameness or paresis, proprioceptive ataxia,and varying degrees of tetraparesis.4The C2-C3interver-tebral disc is the most frequently affected. Incidencedecreases caudally, but disc lesions at C6-C7are seencommonly in large breed dogs with cervicalspondylomyelopathy (CSM).5
